Clayton to Miss Last Two Preseason Games with Ankle Sprain

Clayton

A sprained ankle will not keep Ravens WR Mark Clayton out of the regular season opener vs the Bengals, but it will sideline him for the remainder of the preseason.  Clayton hurt the ankle on Sunday night throwing a block in the teams 13-12 loss to the New York Giants.  He was wearing a protective boot on the ankle on Sunday night, and Monday was walking around the locker room.

Head coach Brian Billick did state that it looks as if Clayton will miss the last two preseason contests vs the Redskins and then Falcons, but if all goes well healing wise, he should be well enough to return for the Monday night opener in Cincy.

“I’ll be running as soon as possible, catching balls as soon as possible,” Clayton said. “I need to be out there and work repetitions.”  With both Clayton and Derrick Mason out with injuries, the team turned to Clarence Moore and Demetrius Williams.  The team truly needs it’s big two back, as the passing game will surely suffer without them in there catching passes.
