Three Stars Battle Injuries for Beat Up Ravens

LewisFor those that thought that all-world linebacker Ray Lewis would be out for the season – breathe a little easier, it’s not as bad as he made it out to be. Lewis hurt his right triceps in the Monday night loss to the Bengals, and quickly stated that he tore it, meaning that he would miss some serious playing time. On Wednesday, that line changed, as he stated he would be ready to go when the New York Jets rolled into town for a showdown on Sunday.

Lewis had a MRI on the triceps, and there is no tear, and he himself said he’s doing better. “My arm feels so much better,” said Lewis, who did not participate in the practice session. “It feels great. The pain is there, of course … but I’m actually fine.”

The news is not as good for left tackle Jonathan Ogden, who almost for sure will miss the game on Sunday. He aggravated his hyper-extended left big toe in the first half Monday, and didn’t play in the remainder of the contest. He said Wednesday that it would take some serious healing for him to be on the field vs the Jets. “I doubt it. I don’t think there’s any way I can play,” Ogden said. “You never know. Miracles have occurred before, but…”

Finally, there is QB Steve McNair, who suffered a groin injury in the loss Monday night. He is up in the air for playing Sunday, and on Wednesday said that if he can get some healing in this week he’ll take the field, but that is a big if. “I think the soreness is kind of going away. I’m getting treatment three or four times a day,” he said. “Hopefully every day gets better and hopefully I can get out there on Sunday and play. That’s my goal. That’s my ultimate thing. I’ve been through this before, as far as injury-wise not participating much in practice and then playing and playing well. If it comes down to it, that’s what I’ll do.”

Rumors state that McNair is not going to play in the game, leaving the ball in the hands of backup Kyle Boller.
