Suggs Wants New Deal, Ravens Would be Wise to Wait

Suggs

Sources say that Terrell Suggs is starting to talk about a new contract with the Ravens, but things on their end might not be coming that easy.  Sources say that Suggs is looking for a seven-year deal that will make him the NFL’s highest paid player at his position. Rigth now the most highest paid defensive paid player is Dwight Freeney, as he signed an offseason deal for six years at $72 million.  The Ravens have plenty to think about when it comes to Suggs and some of the other players on their defense.  They already had to let go of Adalius Thomas this past offseason to the Pats, and might want to take a second look before letting Suggs go.  On the other hand, the Ravens think that Suggs might be worth as much as Freeney, even though he has had a solid career, playing 16 games in each of his first four seasons, gaining 40 sacks.  He has been solid, but worth $72 million plus?  He’s nuts to think the Ravens would pay him that much at this point in his career.
