Ogden out for season?

Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden

Those of you who follow the Baltimore Ravens’ doings already know that offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden has been battling a hyperextended toe injury for what seems like the majority of the season.  But according to Camille Powell of the Washington Post and confirmed by Ravens head coach Brian Billick, if Ogden is unable to play when the Ravens face the Pittsburgh Steelers on November 5, he may not play again this season.

As previously mentioned, Ogden is out with a hyperextended big toe that he initially injured last season but aggravated during the season opener this season.  Despite that, he has been practicing with the team in recent weeks yet if he still cannot play after the Ravens’ bye week (October 28), the team may consider the option of putting him on injured reserve.

During his weekly news conference, Billick said regarding Ogden’s status, “It’s a very legitimate question: ‘Jeez, is this going to happen?’  Because at some point, if it’s not, then we have to consider holding a roster spot.  But by the way he moves around [in practice], I’m fairly optimistic.  But he’s the only one that can really answer it, and he’s working very hard.”
