Mattison Hired As Linebackers Coach

                                      Greg Mattison

After an increased salary offer and a change of heart, Greg Mattison has decided to accept the Baltimore Ravens’ offer to join their defensive staff, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times and verified by University of Florida head coach Urban Meyer; Mattison is expected to coach the Ravens’ linebackers.

No announcement was made on Sunday, but Mattison could be introduced by the team as early as today.  Meyer told reporters in Florida that Mattison turned down the Ravens’ first offer, but accepted a second, increased offer; Mattison, besides serving as a co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Florida, also coached with Ravens head coach John Harbaugh at Western Michigan in the 1980s and is a former defensive coordinator at Notre Dame and Michigan.  He has also had coaching stints at Texas A&M, Navy and Northwestern.
