RB Smith Still Waiting

It was about this time last year when GM Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens signed Musa Smith to a one-year contract, and now Smith is looking to be re-signed by his beloved Purple and Black. The Carroll County Times reported that Ravens FA RB Musa Smith does not have any visits scheduled and the young back would like to re-sign with the team. Jack Reale, Smith’s agent, told the Times that “We’re in a wait-and-see mode with Musa. Musa’s a good football player and he would love to be back with Baltimore. Hopefully, something can be worked out.”

For the Ravens, Smith has rushed for 262 yards on 62 carries (4.2 yards per attempt) with three touchdowns and caught 28 passes for 180 yards. Besides making plays on special teams, Smith has played well at the reserve spot for Willis McGahee. Smith has the abilities to make an impact for any team’s run game if given the chance, but if he re-signs it would be 2nd-string again for Musa and the Ravens in 2008.
