Everybody seems to believe that Ozzie Newsome the GM of the Ravens 18th pick of QB Joe Flacco in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft was the direct result of the failure of the Head Coach Brian Billick 21st pick of QB Kyle Boller in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft. IMO this is not the case. The pick of QB Joe Flacco reflects the failure of the Ravens hierarchy to place 6th round draft choice in the 2005 NFL Draft of QB Derek Anderson on their active roster. By keeping him on their practice squad, the Ravens allowed the Browns to steal him and the rest as they say is history.
