Breaking Down the Ravens Week 2 Preseason Outing

On a night when the Ravens QB position was expected to get the most scrutiny it was their defensive players who seemed to lack focus and passion in their game against the Minnesota Vikings last Saturday.

Granted they were missing six defensive starters(DLs Kelly Gregg & Haloti Ngata as well as OLB Terrell Suggs)includimg three from their secondary (CBs Chris McAlister & Samari Rolle plus FS Ed Reed). But the Ravens’ first-string defense was victimized by the Vikings’ wide receivers for 154 yards in the first-half alone when the starters for both teams played.

Specifically, CBs Frank Walker and Fabian Washington who both played so well in the first preseason game against New England Patriots were consistently beaten by the Vikings’ wideouts. IMO the Ravens’ players who performed well were in no particular order:(1) RB Ray Rice; (2)CB Derrick Martin; (3)TE Adam Bergen; (4)OT Mike Kracalik; (5)FS Haruki Nakamura; (6)WR Marcus Smith and (7)SS Tom Zbikowski.
