Birds Back on Track After Win in Miami

It was back to the basics Sunday in Miami for the Ravens, and the results were exactly what the Ravens ordered.  140 yards rushing, 31:43 in time of possession, and allowing just 71 yards on the ground to the Dolphins all equaled a no nonsense 27-13 win.  The win broke the teams three game losing streak, and now with games in the next theee weeks vs the Raiders, Browns and Texans, the Ravens seem ready to take another step forward.

Maybe the best sign was the play of rookie Joe Flacco, who was getting closed to hearing chants of “Troy, Troy” at home Sunday if he wouldn’t have played well vs Miami.  It was Flacco’s best game as a pro, throwing for 232 yards on 17-for-32 passing with one TD and no picks.  He knew when to get rid of the ball, and even taking three sacks he was smart with not making bad choices.

So now that things appear to be back to stable, the team can start to look ahead to a Raiders team that stunned the Jets 16-13 in OT.  With this being the teams only home game in their five-game strech, the game is a must win if the team wants to stay in the playoff hunt.  Without getting ahead, it was at least for one day nice to see what the team could do when it played up to its potential.
