Take My Picture

Whew. I’ve never been more happy to see a player in another team’s uniform.

We can finally stop answering the question of weather Baltimore should reach out and sign this guy given their need for big play ability at receiver before it really starts.

Silence to all those who want to point to his stats, the fact that he’s still in great shape for a 35 year old, and that Baltimore hasn’t had a deep threat since Michael Jackson.

No, No! A thousand times NO I say.

He’s a franchise killer with the heart that is two sizes too small. I caught his act years ago back when he was with the 49ers. Baltimore stomped away at San Fran en route to a 44-7 drubbing. But there was Owens alligator arming every pass that was thrown his way.

Adversity reveals character and in the words of Winston Wolf, “Just because you are a character doesn’t mean you have any.”

Owens’ most recent antics this year were even more comical as he played the he said/she said game that Romo and Witten had a secret pact and that no one really wanted to play with him anymore. This type of behavior belongs as a potential plot for High School Musical 4 and not in a professional locker room.

He is the “I” in team. As in me, myself and I better be happy or I’m going to let you hear about it. I mean when you make Jerry Jones, king of the Island of misfit players, take a nine million dollar cap hit to cut you, you know that you’ve accomplished something.

I love how the media is trumpeting the bold move by the Bills to sign the 35 year old to a one year contract as a master stroke since we all know Owens is better in small doses. Sure the risk seems low and the Bills need to make a splash. But, to me it’s like putting stale milk back in the fridge and hoping that maybe tomorrow it will be fresh. It won’t happen.

Should I also throw in this trivia question? Who led the league in drops by NFL recievers? Terrell Owens with 33.

So enjoy Bill fans, sure he’ll catch a few touchdowns but by week Nine he’ll be itching to provide a few sound-bytes and ready to blame someone or something; the coach, the QB, his neighbor’s dog, global warming, anything but himself to be the cause of all the turmoil that your team is currently experiencing.
