Could Figurs’ Role Be in Doubt w/ Carr Coming Aboard?

ProFootballweekly.com’s latest “The Way We Hear It” says that with Chris Carr coming on board, it could mean the end of Yamon Figurs as a Ravens return man:

The addition of Chris Carr bolsters the team’s CB depth and calls into question RS-WR Yamon Figurs’ role with the Ravens going forward, the way we hear it. Carr, who turns 26 in late April, primarily contributed on special teams last season, ranking third in the AFC in kickoff-return average (28.1) and eighth in punt-return average (10.1). He also started a pair of games at cornerback and proved an effective reserve on defense. Carr has a good chance to beat out Frank Walker to be the Ravens’ third cornerback. Also, he’s expected to return kickoffs and punts, which could mean Figurs, a 2007 third-round pick, could find himself in a battle for a roster spot. The 5-11, 180-pound Figurs has rare speed, but he has not been consistent on returns, and he has not been able to make much of an impact as a receiver, catching only one pass in each of his first two NFL seasons.
