Defense Fires It Up

fox

In Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns the defense was fired up and never let up.

Even though going into this game the Browns were totally overmatched the Ravens defense had one thing in mind, to make a statement. Under scrutiny in the past two games the Ravens ‘D’ stepped up big time Sunday. The defense was suffocating and executed just about a perfect game only allowing a field goal.

All the talk about a troubled secondary was put to rest for the time being after CB Domonique Foxworth started things off by jumping in front of the Browns intended receiver for an interception. FS Ed Reed and SS Dawan Landry got in the mix too with interceptions to stop any hopes of a Cleveland comeback. DE Trevor Pryce and DE Terrell Suggs applied pressure all day forcing bad decisions by the Browns QB’s.  The linebackers played at a high level including Brendon Ayanbadejo who had a stellar game with a sideline ‘pick.’

The secondary communication problems of the past two games were almost non existent and the Ravens blitz packages are starting to find their timing.  In games where a rout is on it is easy for teams to let up but the ‘D’ kept that fiery attitude throughout the entire game.  Make no mistake; the Ravens defense made a statement to fans and critics alike.

 Some of Sunday’s Game Stats:
Total Net Yards allowed: 186

Total First downs: 11

Tackle for a loss 5 for 8 yards

Interceptions 4

Sacks 2

ravens came to play this year. seems like they new what a harbaugh camp would be like, prior to coming. those who came, came ready and willing to play and it shows.

it remains to be seen whether this was a bad browns team or a good ravens d…or both, but their results were much more impressive then the kc game. this was the first game i left early in years of being a season ticket holder. i left with 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

great effort. if this is the D…and the O…wow, we truly deserve the power ranking and the next four games will be the fun part. no more sihing or pensive feelings, but really feeling good going into the games…a la 2000, but on both sides of the ball.

    exciting stuff.

    Great article Gene!

Raven’s D is back – Lets see if they can come through like they did back in 2000-01…
