Williams An Important Component
Demetrius Williams may be a key component for the offense as they fight for a playoff spot these next few weeks. Williams is having a positive impact as he is a viable threat downfield helping open up the passing game. Opposing defenses have been able to press our receivers as they lack respect for the Ravens long ball. With Williams stretching the field it gives Flacco opportunities with the underneath routes and mid range passes. There were signs of Williams’s impact in the Green Bay game and in Sunday’s match-up versus the Lions. Now that Williams has had a few games to get up to game speed, it just might be what Flacco and the offense needs down the stretch.
Will We See More Rushing?
Last week’s heavy rushing attack is just what the team needed as they head into these next three critical games. The team is 7-1 this season when they run for 28 times or more. The offense had a total of 308 rushing yards and ran for a team record 5 TD’s. It remains to be seen if the offense ran the ball more due to the weather conditions or due to a new change in philosophy.
Secondary Changes Positive
Cornerback Lardarius Webb has proven to be an asset in coverage and is aggressive against the run. Safety Tom Zbikowski filling in for Ed Reed has an interception in each of his starts. Though both players are getting accustom to their role, they have made important plays and are a positive in the secondary.
