“I liked the way my body used to look in my uniform, so I’m trying to get that back. I put on weight so I could be stronger against the run, but I’ve always been good against the run. I’m looking forward to being the best player I can be for my team.”
—Defensive end-linebacker Terrell Suggs on attending the team’s offseason workout program this year.
A good sign coming from Suggs who had a disappointing 2009 season filled with domestic allegations (they were later dropped) and poor production.
Suggs followed up his signing of a deal that made him the highest paid linebacker ever with his lowest sack total (4.5) of his seven year career. It’s interesting that he brings up his ability to stop the run though. It’s a point that some of his supporters have brought up in his defense. But honestly, he didn’t get all that money to be a run stuffer. He needs to lead the charge to get the quarterback, an area that Baltimore has struggled in the past three seasons.
Let’s hope he’s serious in getting back to basics, developing a second move off the line and getting back to the Sizzle the fans have seen at times over his career.

Yeah, I’m pretty excited about Suggs’ offseason training. I really think he’s going to come back next year. As for Suggs being the highest paid linebacker ever to have a pedestrian season, I don’t think it’s that bad… actually it seems great when I think about how Dominique Foxworth was probably the highest paid former-2nd string cornerback ever. I mean he has improved and there is some potential, but his 7 million a year contract is absurd. How desperate were we? Hopefully we don’t have one of those again his year.
