NFL Cancels Next Week’s Minicamp

An interesting development for Baltimore as the NFL canceled next weeks camp due to violation of league rules.

The Ravens were forced to cancel next week’s off-season camp — their last one before training camp — after violating the collective bargaining agreement’s off-season workout rules.

The penalty was the resolution after the players union lodged a complaint against the Ravens.

It was determined that the Ravens had broken the rules concerning the intensity and tempo of drills conducted at their off-season camps as well as the length of time spent by players at the team’s facility, according to a joint statement Monday from the NFL and the players union.

I don’t think this is a huge deal. Ozzie Newsome and John Harbaugh have accepted the punishment and have said that it will “never happen again”. That’s probably the best way to put an embarrassing situation behind you. Just admit it and move on.

I guess the only issue or maybe non-issue is who blew the whistle on the team. Was it a rookie or a veteran? Was it done with several players filing the same complaint or was it done a bit more innocently?

Who knows?

But it’s probably something that Coach Harbaugh will want to find out soon.

As for me I’m not that concerned until we get more information.

Hopefully it isn’t systematic of a larger more serious problem.
