Ravens Cutting Three Undrafted Rookie Defensive Backs

The National Football Post is reporting the Ravens today are saying ‘so long’ to a couple undrafted rookie defensive backs:

Ravens are in the process of cutting three undrafted rookie defensive backs today, according to league sources.

The Ravens plan to release rookie cornerback Courtney Smith (Central Washington) and safeties Brad Jones (Cincinnati) and Ashton Hall (Marshall).

Smith and Hall were signed following the NFL draft and Jones was added to the roster following a minicamp tryout.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh has said the team plans to sign at least one veteran defensive back.

The team recently auditioned cornerbacks Walt Harris and Ken Lucas and safety Ken Hamlin.

The Ravens signed veteran cornerback Travis Fisher after a tryout earlier this offseason, but are still looking to bolster the secondary with the following players recovering from surgeries: safety Ed Reed (hip) and cornerbacks Fabian Washington (anterior cruciate ligament) and Lardarius Webb (anterior cruciate ligament).
