New FS Ken Hamlin Says He’s Fine If He’s a Backup

Sounds like new Raven Ken Hamlin realizes that at the end of the day, he will be more important to the team as a backup at the safety spot, and he says he has no real issues with that:

New Ravens safety Ken Hamlin has started all but two of his games in seven NFL seasons but says he’s willing to be a backup if unable to beat out Tom Zbikowski and Dawan Landry for the starting job opposite Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed. “If we’re winning and playing well, I’ll have a role on this team, whatever that is,” Hamlin told NFL.com. “I’m a competitor, and I want to be on the field. But if what’s best for this team is for me to be a backup and contribute on special teams, then that’s what I’ll do. I’ll find my role. To crack that lineup will be tough, and I have my work cut out for me.”
