McClain Doubts He’ll Be Back

From Baltimore Insider:

Le’Ron McClain, a two-time Pro Bowl fullback, said he doesn’t expect to return to the Ravens next season.

McClain is one of 17 Ravens scheduled to be unrestricted free agents.

“It’s up to what the Ravens organization decides. But I doubt it, though. I doubt it,” McClain said while clearing out his locker Monday.

Why does McClain feel that way?

“If I was [coming back], I would probably have been used a little bit more this season and the past two years,” said McClain, who was the Ravens’ leading rusher in 2008. “It is what is. I’m over that now. Four great years in Baltimore. Now, I’m just looking forward to the future.”

I agree that McClain should have had a bigger role in the offense but I could say that about several others and there’s only one football.

This goes back to a point that the staff has brought up several times with this offense that there were no clearly defined roles.

On the open market McClain may be able to net a hefty paycheck with a few Pro Bowls on his resume and I think he may be gone as well.
