Paul Kruger Wants a Bigger Role on the Ravens in 2011

The Ravens official site talks about Paul Kruger, who wants to have a bigger role with the Ravens in 2011.

If defensive end Paul Kruger isn’t in the Ravens’ starting lineup in 2011, he definitely expects to see a significant amount of more playing time. Appearing on The Sports Zone on WARN in Utah to talk about a variety of topics, Kruger said he hopes to see at least half of the snaps in 2011.

“I feel like this year coming up, I should have more of a starting role, and if not, something real serious, playing at least 50 percent of the plays if not more,” Kruger said. The Ravens spent a second-round draft pick on him in 2009, but he only played in nine games as he developed behind Terrell Suggs on the depth chart. Last year, Kruger stacked 10-15 pounds on his 6-foot-4, 268-pound frame to become more of a 3-4 defensive end and was on the field for 11 contests.

While he amassed one tackle and one sack during the regular season, Kruger felt his increased role towards the end of the season was a step in the right direction. “I’ve been getting more time over the past two years,” said the University of Utah product. “Last year, I started playing a lot more on passing downs and in two-minute situations, so I’m getting a lot of time.”
