Steelers Ward Says Offseason Losses Put More Pressure on Flacco

It’s three weeks before the season is set to open with the Pittsburgh Steelers and public enemy number one Hines Ward has a lot on his mind. Most of it centers around his division rival the Ravens and in a recent article he gave his thoughts on the Ravens off-season.

“When you lose a Mason or a Heap, that does a lot to a locker room,” Ward told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Those guys were emotional leaders out there. All of the pressure comes on [Joe] Flacco probably.

Ward added, “I know their fans will be hyped up for the game. I call it the lion’s den because when you go down there there’s just a mob of fans who hate Pittsburgh, and what better way than to try to go down there and start their season off the wrong way with a loss.”

Are Baltimore fans hyped up for the game?

Why Yes, Yes we are.

  1. jim lahman says:

    i’m a ravens fan too,but i think he’s right!

  2. This is a big year for Joe. It appears that the coaching shackles have finally come off and he’ll be able to play ball and maybe even call an Audible or two.

The criticism that he’s received over the off-season has ranged from the valid to the sublime. But it’s time to see what he can really do.

Losing Heap and Mason will hurt this season. But the Ravens aren’t lacking for talent and they’ll need to step up as well as Flacco.
