Boldin Out 2 Weeks with Meniscus Tear

Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin will have surgery today to repair a slight tear in his meniscus, and he is expected to miss the final two weeks of the regular season, Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh announced today.

Boldin should be able to return for the playoffs.

“He will be back for the playoffs, whichever round we have to play in,” Harbaugh said. “It will be a little tighter if we have to play in the first round.”

Boldin leads the Ravens with 887 receiving yards on 57 catches this season, and has been the team’s top wide receiver for the last two seasons. This will be the first time in his two years with the Ravens that Boldin will miss games.

His absence will mean that Torrey Smith and Lee Evans should be in the starting lineup and that Laquan Williams or little used Tandon Doss would get a shot as the third receiver.

Boldin’s injury should explain his play this past Sunday, as some questioned afterward if he was giving full effort on his routes. Even though he leads the team in receiving he has not produced as well as fans had hoped over the past several weeks. His last 100-yd performance was back on October 30th against the Cardinals.

  1. Brian says:

Rumor is Mason is in town. Not sure if I should be happy or mad about that. Don’t really need a cancer in the locker room. Hopefully Laquan is ready!

  2. Derrick Mason? The same guy who’s been cut by three teams this season?

I even heard a weak Randy Moss rumor.

The Mason talk will heat up after a pitiful performace from the wideouts this week. I’m with you they don’t need Mason. I’d rather see Williams or Doss get some chances.
