Suggs Named AFC Defensive Player of the Month

Terrell Suggs has added another accomplishment to his already impressive season.

The Ravens outside linebacker was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January after a stretch that included five sacks, four forced fumbles and 22 tackles. The Ravens went 4-1 during that time and clinched the AFC North title with a win over the Bengals on Sunday.

“That’s a Defensive Player of the Year right there,” Head Coach John Harbaugh told his team in the locker room after the win over Cincinnati.

Suggs is on a short list of candidates to be the NFL’s Defensive MVP, but he has consistently emphasized his focus is not on individual accolades.

“I would really like to be a Super Bowl champion,” Suggs said. “That’s what my heart is set on.”

Suggs has 70 tackles, 14 sacks, two interceptions and a franchise-record seven forced fumbles on the season.
