Ravens Release Foxworth

After two injury filled seasons Baltimore native Foxworth is let go.

General Manager Ozzie Newsome announced Monday afternoon that the Ravens have terminated vested veteran cornerback Domonique Foxworth. Foxworth spent nearly the entire past two seasons on injured reserve after suffering an ACL tear on the eve of 2010 training camp and most recently failed his physical.

The veteran cornerback would have reportedly carried a $7 million salary into this season.

It’s not ruled out that he could return at a cheaper price though.

Because of his knee injury, Foxworth’s impact on the field was limited. But he has remained active off the field. As a member of the NFL Players Association’s executive committee, he played a key role in negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement and salvaging the 2011 NFL season.
