2000 Ravens in NFL’s Bracketology Championship

2000 Ravens vs. 1976 Raiders - Who was best?

In the spirit of March Madness, NFL.com has been running a tournament style bracketĀ  to decide which NFL team was the greatest during the Super Bowl era.

Apparently there are a ton of fans out there that feel that the 2000 World champion Baltimore Ravens are among the best ever. The Ravens are in the finals against the 1976 Oakland Raiders and voting ends today!

Baltimore was #9 seed in the Don Shula region and defeated Bill Belicheck’s 2001 New England Patriots to advance to the Second round. (Some revenge – I guess) From there the Ravens upended the #1 seeded 1972 Miami Dolphins. Heading into the Sweet Sixteen, the Ravens muscled past the 1991 Washington Redskins into the Elite Eight. Then Baltimore edged out the 1998 Denver Broncos to get the Final Four. Most, including myself would have thought that the Ravens Cinderella run would have ended against Bill Walsh’s 1984 San Francisco 49ers. But, Ray Lewis and company would not be denied.

So make sure to head over to the site and cast your vote for the purple and black.
