Ravens Rip Jaguars 48-17

Leach(44)Spikes it!

Joe Flacco looked very impressive tonight as he completed 27 of 36 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns as the Baltimore Ravens breezed past the Jacksonville Jaguars in their third pre-season game of the year.

Flacco connected with nine different receivers and showed a command of the offense especially in the no-huddle. Most notably second-year man Torrey Smith was the star as  he snagged 8 catches for 103 yards. He was especially dangerous on short drags where he could beat a defender and turn on his speed to gain chunks of yardage after the catch.

The Ravens offense which had trouble in its first two pre-season games finishing drives broke out of it’s slump early in the Second Quarter. Flacco tossed a 5-yd touchdown off a beautiful play fake inside to a wide open Anquan Boldin to put Baltimore up 10-0. His second score was a bit tougher as he eluded the rush, got outside and tossed it 8 yards to Vonta Leach who was still looking for contact even in the end zone.

Undrafted kicker Justin Tucker, who is trying to win the job from Billy Cundiff looked poised and confident as he converted all six of his extra point attempts and was two for two on Field Goals. His boomer from 53-yds. out had plenty of room to spare.

Overall, Baltimore finished with 571 Total Yards and had five drives of at least 80 yards, while their 48 points was the most ever in franchise history during an exhibition game.

The Ravens defense was equally as stellar limiting Jacksonville starting Quarterback Blaine Gabbert to 11 of  21 for 117 yards. No doubt the Jaguars missed holdout Running Back Maurice Jones-Drew as Gabbert had few options to either hand off or pass to in his offense.

Still, the Ravens registered three Sacks and forced Jacksonville into 5 for 15 on Third Down. So it was still by far their best effort of the pre-season.

The Ravens will play St. Louis a week from today to wrap up the Exhibition schedule. It will be one last time for those on the bubble to prove their worth.
