4 Takes: The Star of the Game on Monday will be?

4 Takes: ‘Star of the game’

Important game for the Ravens to open the 2012 season. Against a division rival, they must take advantage of home field.  For this game, we pose the question to our Baltimore Gridiron columnists:

Who will be the Star of the game in the Ravens home opener on Monday night?”

 Jonathan Scruggs:

My Star is Kelechi Osemele. His presence at Left Guard will be absolutely vital for the Ravens to set the tempo early against the Bengals. His quick feet and natural ability will be the difference maker in this game, and will open up the run game to strengthen the down field passing threat.

 Gene Winner

I’m going with Ed Reed, he’s had some success against the Bengals and usually finds a way to make huge play on a big stage.  This defensive  unit needs to prove they can adapt to playing without Terrell Suggs–they must send a message to the league that in Baltimore ‘Defense’ is still king. Like Ray Lewis or Haloti Ngata , a player like Ed Reed, who is a game changer, can instill added confidence in this defense.

 Matt Jergensen:

Monday night will be Joe Flacco’s coming out party on a national stage. He finally has complete control of the offense and it’s one that is tailored more to his skill set to allow him to make quick decisions and to utilize his rocket arm. Last time these teams met in Baltimore Flacco was exceptional with a QB Rating of 105 as he tossed two touchdowns and threw for 270 yards. I expect similar numbers this week.

Ben Zinman:

Monday’s star is: Joe Flacco.  Flacco must  have a significant impact on the outcome of Baltimore Ravens season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Flacco will continue where he left off in the AFC Championship game. He will continue to develop more consistency.
