Ravens Rock Bengals on Monday Night; 44-13

Flacc-tacular on Monday Night!

On a night charged with emotion for the Ravens franchise as they commemorated the passing of former owner Art Modell, the team put together a fantastic performance that would have certainly made Modell proud.

After taking a 17-10 lead over the Bengals into Halftime Baltimore came roaring out and exploded for twenty seven unanswered points in the Second Half to cruise to a 44-13 victory on national television.

Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco was splendid as he completed 21-of-29 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns as Baltimore won it’s 11th straight game at home.

Ray Rice totaled 93 yards from scrimmage and ran for two scores, while Dennis Pitta and Anquan Boldin each caught a touchdown pass and Ed Reed recorded the seventh interception return for a touchdown of his sure to be Hall of Fame career.

The biggest story of the night was the Ravens offense led by the oft unfairly criticized Flacco who looked sharp in the team’s new No-Huddle offense. He seemed in total command all evening long barking out signals, changing plays at the line, and showing arm strength and touch on his passes.

The Ravens defense which struggled in the First Half to contain Andy Dalton and the Bengals made several adjustments and held Cincinnati to only three points after the break. Playing without injured NFL Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs, who had 14 sacks last year, the Ravens dropped got to the Quarterback four times and forced two turnovers.

The victory gives the Ravens an early one game advantage on the AFC North as they were the only team to get a win in Week One. Next week Baltimore travels to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles this Sunday. The Eagles were a late winner against the Cleveland Browns 17-16.
