Power Rankings 2012 – Week One

49ers upset the Pack in Lambeau.

Welcome to the first power ranking for the NFL 2012-2013 Campaign.

Not too many upsets dotted the landscape this week. Parity at its finest if you ask me. As always if you think you can do better; leave your own rankings in the comments below.

1. San Francisco 49ers (1-0). The Niners absolutely dominated the Packers. That is why they are number one this week.

2. New England Patriots (1-0).  Tom Terrific had his precious face marred, but the Patriots continued their roll

3. Dallas Cowboys (1-0). Cowboys looked good in their season opening win over the defending champs.

4. Baltimore Ravens (1-0). The Ravens burst on the scene in a big way by mopping the floor with the Cincinnati Bengals.

5. Denver Broncos (1-0). Peyton Manning’s career arose from the grave and delivered unto Mile Hile a victory worth believing in. Wow.

6. Washington Redskins (1-0). Hope and Change has yet to be delivered from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., but it sure was bussed in by the truckload from Redskins Park Drive. Bob Griffin looked like a world beater in his debut.

7. Atlanta Falcons (1-0). Matt Ryan may have ascended to another level this season. He looked scary good during week one.

8. Houston Texans (1-0).  Many a pundits’ pick for the big dance in February, the Texans did not disappoint in their shellacking of the hapless Dolphins.

9. Chicago Bears (1-0). Bears get their season started by drubbing Andrew Luck.

10. Detroit Lions (1-0). The Lions hold a lot of promise coming into this season. They struggled a bit against the Rams but still managed to find a way when it mattered.

11. San Diego Chargers (1-0). The Chargers took full advantage of the Raiders’ sloppy inconsistent play to pull out the win.

12. Minnesota Vikings (1-0). The Vikings have a ton of questions surrounding them this season, but they get off on the right foot with a close-call win.

13. New York Jets (1-0).  The Jets absolutely destroyed the Bills, and most surprisingly they did it in a conventional fashion… well at least conventional for the Jets.

14. Arizona Cardinals (1-0). Skelton goes down and Kolb comes back up. Arizona has been in a QB tailspin since the 08-09 Super Bowl…

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0). Tampa took care of Cam Newton efficiently and effectively. Greg Schiano wins his first NFL game and Ronde Barber cheats father time for another week.

16. Philadelphia Eagles (1-0). After struggling to beat the Browns you have to wonder what Andy Reid is thinking as he prepares to face Baltimore.

17. New York Giants (0-1). The defending champs only take a tumble because they lost. Relax.

18. Green Bay Packers (0-1). Green Bay is probably the best of the losers this week talent wise. This is still a very good team despite the hiccup.

19. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1). Pittsburgh is 1-7 when playing Peyton Manning.

20. New Orleans Saints (0-1). There may have been too much off field drama for the Saints to overcome this week. Odds are they bounce back well in week two.

21. Cincinnati Bengals (0-1). A lot to like about the Dalton to Green hookup, but beyond that there are many, many, holes throughout the Cincinnati roster.

22. Cleveland Browns (0-1). Cleveland almost won, and that’s great, but Brandon Wheedon did little to inspire confidence.

23. Carolina Panthers (0-1). Cam Newton’s two picks doomed his team to another loss.

24. St. Louis Rams (0-1). What a serious heartbreaker at the end of the game for the Rams. All you can do is take the loss and move on.

25. Indianapolis Colts (0-1).  Luck may be good, but it takes more than a QB to win games.

26. Tennessee Titans (0-1).  There’s a football team in Tennessee?

27. Oakland Raiders (0-1). Sloppy play from the Raiders spells disaster.

28. Seattle Seahawks (0-1).  The Seahawks just can’t seem to get out of their own way.

29. Kansas City Chiefs (0-1). Another season, another struggle for the Chefs.

30. Buffalo Bills (0-1). Bills came out with a ton of promise and promptly fell flat on their faces.

31. Miami Dolphins (0-1). Ryan Tannehill huh? On the bright side you live in a sunny climate and your WAGS are some of the best in sports.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1). One step closer to being the London Jaguars.
