‘4 Takes:’ Can Flacco Duplicate his Success on the Road?

4 Takes:
Can Quarterback Joe Flacco duplicate his success from Monday on the road this Sunday versus Philadelphia?

The Baltimore Gridiron staff give their ‘take’s:

Jonathan Scruggs:

“After watching Monday’s Night Rout on replay, there’s no doubt in my mind that Joe will duplicate his performance in Philadelphia. The Eagles may sport some dominating corners and some decent safeties, but their front seven is entirely lackluster. I expect Joe to exploit Dickson and Pitta much as he did against Cincinnati, if not more so.

The Eagles have some issues to work out and, although I don’t think it will be a cakewalk by any stretch, I think Flacco muscles the team to a solid win.”

 Matt Jergensen:

“I’d like to think so. What most impressed me about his performance Monday Night were the little things that we just haven’t seen from him in the past. The barking of signals at the line, his instruction of players where to go. He seemed in total control of HIS offense.  Now Philadelphia poses a different challenge than Cincinnati and besides the fact that they will be on the road they must deal with a much more aggressive game plan from the Eagles defense. It will be a tough game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Baltimore let down a bit. But I do know that my confidence in Joe Flacco has increased tremendously for this season and beyond.

Gene Winner:

” ‘Joe Cool’ will duplicate his success on the road and he should play well. Naturally it’s a different story on the road for all quarterbacks; loud crowd noise and no home-cooking. Still, it’s all about communication and if Flacco has all of his signals down and communicates well with his receivers, then he should have a solid game.  Will he have a few hiccups in Philadelphia? Sure, yet we’ll see a similar game plan Sunday as we witnessed Monday night. I do envision a little more straight forward approach early with a solid dose of Ray Rice in order to open up the passing game.”

Ben Zinman:

“On Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles Flacco will begin to shed the claims that his body of work lacks a consistent progression of success from one performance to the next. Sunday he will follow up last week’s MNF stellar performance with more of the same.”
