Webb and Jones Will Split Return Duties

Wasn’t He Signed as a Return Man?

From the Baltimore Sun:

Signed to a two-year, $7 million contract in the spring to be the Ravens’ primary return specialist, Jacoby Jones got a much bigger workload at wide receiver against the Cincinnati Bengals than he did on special teams.

Jones caught all three passes targeted for him by quarterback Joe Flacco for 46 yards, including a difficult 25-yard sideline grab in traffic during a 44-13 victory Monday night at M&T Bank Stadium.

However, Jones only returned one punt for nine yards and wasn’t utilized on kickoff returns at all as rookie Deonte Thompson handled all four kickoffs for a 22-yard average.

Special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg indicated that cornerback Lardarius Webb, who returned one punt for nine yards, and Jones will continue to split up punt return responsibilities.
