Halftime & Final Instant Reactions: Ravens 9 – Chiefs 3

Another K.C. Miscue.

Sorry these didn’t get out in a more timely fashion. Not quite so instant. I had a case of Orioles fever.

Halftime Thoughts: (Ravens 3 – Chiefs 3)

Gene Winner:

Sorta frustrating with the Ravens run defense. The Chiefs have little confidence in Cassel, they opted to run twice on third and long. Cam Cameron continues to abandon the run way too early on the road. Ravens need points!

Jonathan Scruggs:

Flat out ugly for the Ravens in the first half. If not for a series of ill timed turnovers by the Chiefs, this could be a blowout. Jamal Charles is flat out destroying the Ravens defensive front. Couple these woes with more offensive ineptitude from Flacco and Company, and it hasn’t been fun to watch. The Ravens have had hands of stone from moment one. If they hope to avoid the trap they will simply have to play better in the 2nd half

Ben Zinman: (He was on the scene at Arrowhead)

1st half stats are horrific!

Matt Jergensen:

Ugh. Ravens run defense got gashed in the first half and the Ravens receivers can’t seem to catch a cold. Only the ineptitude of the Kansas City offense has kept this one from getting out of hand.

Final Thoughts

Gene Winner:

For whatever reason the Ravens struggle on the road against sub teams. This was old school football; low scoring and both defenses clamped down. Two major issues for Ravens: 1) Run defense terrible, but did better second half. 2) Third downs for the offense have to improve.  About the only positive from this contest was that Tucker has been consistent. And OLB Kruger made some nice plays today.

Matt Jergensen:

A win is a win is a win. They all count the same in the end. However there will be a lot of discussion this week about the offense and it’s inability to generate First Downs and get into the endzone. The Ravens just don’t seem like the same team when they are away from M & T.
