Power Rankings: Week Eight

At the midway point things have begun to shake out across the NFL landscape. Playoffs are still up for grabs. My feeble attempt to rank can be found below. As always if you think you can do better; leave your own rankings in the comments below.

1. Atlanta Falcons (7-0). Best record gets the top spot. Simple enough.

2. Houston Texans (6-1).  May be the best team overall in the NFL today.

3. Chicago Bears (6-1). Right there with the Texans and the Falcons.

4. New York Giants (6-2). Playing really solid football, but barely beat the Cowboys on Sunday.

5. San Francisco 49ers (6-2). The Niners still have a QB question but look to have righted the ship.

6. Baltimore Ravens (5-2). Cleveland is coming off a big win and the Ravens play horribly on the road. Could be make or break time for Baltimore.

7. Green Bay Packers (5-3). Three in a row have the Pack hot on the Bears’ trail.

8. New England Patriots (5-3).  Thumped the hapless Rams.

9. Minnesota Vikings (5-3). Vikings are trying to make some noise but will need to play better to catch the Bears or the Pack.

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3). A bad loss by the Ravens followed by a well timed bye week has the Steelers a mere game and a half behind in the AFC north.

11. Denver Broncos (4-3). In a perfect world Peyton wins the west and makes noise in the playoffs, but we’ll see if he can conjure any of that old magic.

12. Miami Dolphins (4-3). Three straight wins for Tannehill. Keep this up and the Dolphins could be making noise for the wildcard.

13. Indianapolis Colts (4-3).  The Colts are right there with the Dolphins trying to make a run at a wildcard.

14. Seattle Seahawks (4-4).  Even at .500 the Hawks are poised to make noise down the stretch.

15. Arizona Cardinals (4-4). No QB = No wins.

16. Philadelphia Eagles (3-4). Vick is still the starter, for now.

17. Dallas Cowboys (3-4). Dallas just can’t seem to catch a break when they need one.

18. Detroit Lions (3-4). Back in the win column for the Lions.

19. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4). Thanks to help from the Ravens the Bengals stay relevant in the AFC North.

20. Buffalo Bills (3-4). Two steps forward three steps back.

21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4). Big win over the Vikings.

22. San Diego Chargers (3-4). Nothing heals wounds like a game against Cleveland, unless of course you are the Chargers and you lose to Cleveland.

23. Oakland Raiders (3-4). You beat the Chiefs, here’s a medal.

24. Washington Redskins (3-5). No shame in losing a close hard fought game to the Steelers.

25. New York Jets (3-5). Man this team is no fun to watch. Rex Ryan is sweating bullets.

26. St. Louis Rams (3-5). Hope they had a nice visit to London.

27. Tennessee Titans (3-5).  They’ve played better of late, but the talent is still lacking.

28. New Orleans Saints (2-5). I’m personally happy to see this team struggle.

29. Cleveland Browns (2-6). Putrid.

30. Carolina Panthers (1-5). Nothing to see here.

31. Kansas City Chiefs (1-6). Still hard to watch.

32. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6). Just awful.
