Match-Up Q: Who has to step up on Defense?

Match-Up Q:

Challenging Match-up come Saturday in Denver.  The Ravens on the road will need to play a solid game game for a win. Of course the offense has to step up, what about on defense?

Which player on defense has to have their best game in order for the Ravens to pull out a win come Saturday?

Matt Jergensen:

“Ed Reed. Reed’s known for nabbing interceptions during the playoffs (8 in 11 games) and he just missed one last week against Andrew Luck. Reed has had success against Manning in the past and a big day from the Safety would help slow Denver’s big play offense.”

Ben Zinman:

“Paul Kruger should continue to build on his pass rushing skills. He may not be able to get to Manning because he has such a quick release but he certainly can make it very uncomfortable for him back in the pocket.”

Jonathan Scruggs:

Terrell Suggs. If the Ravens are going to win this game they have got to get after Peyton Manning and put him on the ground consistently. Suggs must have his finest hour on Sunday and make life hell for Denver and their quarterback. Otherwise this is going to be tough to watch.”

Gene Winner:

“Cary Williams will need to have a solid game.  The Ravens corners will be isolated for many plays as the front seven will try to bring the blitz. So, Williams will need to have one of his better days in man-to-man coverage. Williams does a great job of not letting receivers get behind him, but one of these plays Williams will need to take a chance and go for a pick on a comeback route.”
