Analysis: For the Bills, it is a good sign to see that Byrd, Dareus, Johnson, McKelvin, Urbik, and both Kyle and Mario Williams practiced in some capacity today. All of them are key contributors to the team and I’d expect to see most, if not all of them on the field Sunday. The biggest takeaway has to be that Spiller was a full participant for the team in today’s practice. Spiller is a game changer and the Ravens have struggled in the past with speedy running backs who are also receiving threats.
As for the Ravens, it is not that big of a surprise to see that Jones will miss another week. The team has found viable replacements for him in the returning game and somewhat in the passing game, so there is no need to rush him back. It looks like Thompson may finally be returning this week, which would allow for him to take over the kick returning duties and maybe see some limited action on offense. It isn’t a good sign, however, to see that McPhee and Cody didn’t practice today, and that Rice, Canty, Williams and Brown were all limited today. Harbaugh had touched on that he expected Cody to miss a week or two so that isn’t that surprising, but losing him, McPhee, Williams and possibly Canty would hurt the front seven’s depth for the week. Finally, keep a close eye on the Rice and Canty situations as both missed last weeks game and are key contributors to their respective units. I would be a little shocked if Rice wasn’t out on the field this week, but we will have to wait and see.
