Heading into this week the Ravens had to feel pretty good about their chances to get into the playoffs. They still control their own destiny to making the playoffs, but there is now a lot more pressure on them after other AFC teams were able to pull out some big upsets. The Chargers went on the road against the Broncos and were able to come out victorious. They now are 7-7 and are a half game behind the Ravens. Meanwhile, the Dolphins were able to beat the Patriots this week in another AFC upset, putting their record at 8-6, and at worst will be tied with the Ravens for the last wild card spot again. Coming into this week the Ravens had to have a good feeling about those games. At least one of the two teams had to lose their game. That was the consensus around the league. Both teams, however, showed their toughness and resiliency by winning two tough games to keep them in the playoff picture. The road ahead for the Dolphins is easy. They have the Bills and Jets, two bad teams, left on their schedule. The Chargers have more of an uphill battle, but they are now a challenger for the Ravens.
Coming into this final three game stretch it was known that the Ravens were going to have to play flawless football to come out 3-0. Many, including myself, assumed that the Dolphins and Chargers would lose this week, allowing the Ravens a cushion of losing one of their final three games. Now, it appears that the Ravens will have to run the table to make it into the postseason. It all starts tomorrow night in Detroit, where the Ravens will have to find a way to slow down a powerful offense.
