Ravens Place First-Round Pick Running Back Breshad Perriman on IR

With Breshad Perriman’s knee not responding the way team officials had expected, the Ravens finally placed the first-round NFL draft pick on injured reserve Tuesday, ending the rookie’s season before it even got started, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Perriman, the 26th overall selection in the 2015 draft, hurt his right knee on the first full-squad practice of training camp and what was initially believed to be a day-to-day injury wound up costing him the entire season.

“Breshad has worked hard to come back from his injury, but, after discussing his current condition with our medical staff and Breshad, we have decided that putting him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season is our best course of action,” Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said in a statement released by the team.

On Twitter, Perriman wrote: “It’s a huge disappointment not being able to play my first year in the NFL, but I will come back harder than ever.”

Not to nitpick, but he’s a WR. 🙂

Tough breaks for the Ravens all season and the posters on L4SN are already talking about the draft.

    Baltimore’s season may be over.
