Ravens Have “Unofficial” Agreement in Place with RB Trent Richardson

Running back Trent Richardson worked out for the Ravens this month and while he wasn’t signed immediately, he was told that the team was interested in adding him when he got in better shape, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.

He’s apparently on the right track. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings that the team has an “unofficial” agreement with the former Alabama standout and he expects him to join the team in a couple of weeks.

“It’s in Trent’s court,” Harbaugh said, adding that general manager Ozzie Newsome and Richardson have been in contact regularly in recent weeks. “I text with Trent all the time. He’s keeping me posted on his training. I’m planning on Trent being a Raven right now. I’m kind of excited about it. Talking to him on the phone, I really like him. Here’s a high-caliber, high-draft pick guy that seems like he’s really motivated and wants to do well.”

Richardson, 25, did not play at all last season after he was let go by the Oakland Raiders late in the preseason. He was the third overall selection by the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 draft, but his career went downhill following an impressive rookie season.
