Ravens vs Jaguars – Keys to a Baltimore Victory in Week 15

It’s week 15 in the NFL and the Ravens are still in the AFC playoff race despite having a mid-season disaster when it seemed like over half the team tested positive for Covid-19.

Baltimore showed a ton of heart this past Monday night, as the team traveled to Cleveland and it seemed like against all odds were five points better than the Browns, beating Cleveland with a Justin Tucker 55-yard field goal in the final seconds to win 47-42.

This week the competition is a lot easier, as the team is at home to play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that won in week one and has not won since, losing 12 in a row and entering action this week at 1-12.

The Ravens are favorites by 13 points according to Sports Betting Dime, and many think with Lamar Jackson playing at the level he did on Monday night that the birds are going to run away with a win.

Here’s a couple quick keys to making sure that things will go Baltimore’s way on Sunday to get the team to 9-5, keeping them in the AFC Wild Card race with a couple other teams as the 2020 season gets close to the end.

1. Jackson Needs to Keep Playing at a High Level

Coming back from a positive Covid-19 test, Lamar Jackson looked fantastic against the Browns on Monday night, going 11 of 17 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown after he came back into the game from leg cramps.

Jackson didn’t throw a pick which was great, as the team could not afford any turnovers against a Browns team that was playing with everything on their side.

The reigning NFL MVP’s legs were just as impressive as his arm, as he rushed for a season-high 124 yards and two touchdowns. The game came down to the final minutes, in which Jackson was at his best, throwing a touchdown to Marquise Brown on a 4th down play.

He and the offense cannot afford to give the Jaguars life Sunday, and if he can play at the same level he did against Cleveland, the Ravens will come out with a win.

2. Calais Campbell’s Impact on the Ravens D is Huge

The Ravens defense is just that much better when both Calais Campbell is in the lineup, and that came out again on Monday against the Browns.

Right now entering Sunday Campbell is tied for the team lead with four sacks and has five tackles for a loss and 10 quarterback hits.

The Ravens are just a different team when he plays, and the team is siked to have him in the lineup, as the defense is just that much better.

Consider the fact that Baltimore lost all three games when he Campbell was sidelined with a calf injury.
Look for the Ravens defense to feast off of the Jags, and once again for Campbell to play at a high level.

Pick: The Ravens can’t afford to have a letdown even against a team that has lost a dozen in a row and has not won a game since a 27-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on September 13th.

Look for Jackson to have a huge game on the ground along with the big two of J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, and look for the D to have a big game as well with some turnovers and halting the Jags tepid offense.

In the end, an easy win for the Ravens.
