Shocking news out of Nashville on the Fourth of July. This report is from the Baltimore Sun.
Former Ravens quarterback Steve McNair, who won a division title and 15 games in two seasons in Baltimore, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in a Nashville condominium Saturday and the 20-year-old woman found dead with him was shot once in the head, police said. He was 36.
Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, who he called a “friend” of McNair’s. Police said autopsies were planned for Sunday.
Police had no suspects in custody Saturday, but several visitors at the apartment complex were taken to headquarters for questioning “just to see what they know, what they may have seen,” Aaron said.
Aaron said McNair’s wife, Mechelle, is “very distraught” and that police do not believe she is involved.
I was heading to a cookout celebration for the Fourth as I’m sure most people were today. The news really took me by surprise. I know that Steve played the bulk of his career in Tennessee but he has a special place in Baltimore fan’s hearts too. His arrival finally gave the franchise its first legitimate quarterback since Testaverde as he led the team to a 13-3 record and AFC North division title. He always played the game hard and appeared to be a stand up guy.
Details are sketchy at this point and I’m sure over the coming weeks more light will be shed on the particulars. However it doesn’t look good at this point. We wish Steve’s family and friends peace during this difficult time.
A Persian girl was murdered along side of Steve McNair. I think this was an honer killing. An Iranian Shame killing by her dishonoring the Persian family by hanging out with a man.
